What's the strategic objective(s) for the years

Move towards in-field or on-farm produce quality transparency and guidance.

Extend (depeening) our definition of quality

  • We can do some in the RFC Lab (with the UV VIS), but a good portion needs to be done in Mass.
  • Strategy for improving quality in food
  • Strategy for improving quality in soil
  • What are the priorities for the existing lab versus the other lab?

Should we add crop types?

  • interest in meat, milk, etc.
  • What have we learned from 2020, and what do we need to learn next.

RFC as a product

General Discussion

Who do we want to use the knowledge or data we build?

A consumer wants to identify the quality of a piece of produce that they are looking at

Near term objective of this app

  • 'official' information channel
  • this is what is primarily shown
  • 'crowd-sourced' information channel
  • this is shown secondarily

Types of data - Sent to the lab by a known and trusted partner - Sent to the lab by someone (paid for sampling) - It was measured in the store using a meter by a known and trusted partner - It was measured in the store using a meter by someone

How do do this - We should probably focus on design charettes and spec'ing this correctly then creating a fundable real plan based on good user feedback and design

  1. For a consumer to make a personal purchasing decision
Tables high fidelity low fidelity

???
Tables high fidelity low fidelity
farmers: what is the quality of my produce right now?
farmers: what practices / changes should I make to improve quality?
